About Lung Microengineering Lab at University of Colorado
Benam lab applies a multidisciplinary approach to design and develop bio-inspired technologies that enable their team to elucidate cellular and molecular mechanisms that govern tissue pathology or offer protection during lung injury and host-environment interactions. Our research lies at the intersection of respiratory medicine, immuno-microbiology, tissue engineering, and systems and synthetic bi...ology. Ultimately, our goal is to discover novel druggable targets and personalized diagnostics using microengineered systems that recreate complex human organ pathophysiology in vitro. Our laboratory offers a unique research ecosystem within Pulmonary Division of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, which is the largest and a highly reputable Division in the U.S.A, and in the world; in conjunction with the Department of Bioengineering. Colorado has been named The Switzerland of America for its mountains and outdoor activities, and Denver is one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S.A.
