Ripon College, a Phi Beta Kappa undergraduate liberal-arts college with a history of commitment to excellence in undergraduate education, invites nominations and applications for the Farnsworth Chair in Physics. This tenure-track appointment will be made at the Associate or Full Professor rank. The chair includes a $10,000 yearly account to support professional development. Ripon College holds an expendable gift of approximately $375,000 for physics, and the new chair will work with the Dean of Faculty to determine the best use of these funds.
The chair will join a productive math and science faculty dedicated to undergraduate education and committed to interdisciplinary inquiry. The successful candidate will have an active scholarly agenda and a demonstrated record of excellent teaching at the undergraduate level. Specialization is open, with some preference for astrophysics or applied physics areas that fit well with the existing faculty’s strengths, including biophysics, chemical physics, computational physics, engineering physics, and econophysics. All Ripon College faculty advise students, provide service to the college, and contribute to the distinctive Catalyst core curriculum.
Nominations and questions should be directed to the Dean of Faculty, Ed Wingenbach, (firstname.lastname@example.org or 920-748-8109). Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the chair is filled. Applications should include a letter of application, CV, statements of research and teaching strategy, and contact information for three references who will only be contacted with the candidate’s permission. Ripon is committed to the principles of equal opportunity and adheres to non-discriminatory policies in employment and student enrollment. Materials should be submitted in PDF format to email@example.com. EOE
