WORK EXPERIENCE: • Must have a degree in Electrical or Computer Science OR significant experience in C&S construction/maintenance of railroad signal facilities or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience • Strong knowledge of software system design concepts and processes • Working knowledge of railroad signal circuit plan symbols, nomenclature, and circuit logic • Experience with electrical circuit designs • Knowledge of radio and telecommunication Systems • Knowledge of how to translate computer programming into circuit plans or relay logic • Familiar with Computer Aided Drafting and Design Applications • Detailed knowledge of real-time programming in Linux environment using C++, Motif, X, Perl, Java, MySQL, HTML, and Windows. • User Interface background knowledge • Careful, thorough, methodical work ethic. The work requires a great amount of concentration and attention to detail, plus the ability to switch contexts quickly (i.e., multi-task). • Relational database design and implementation proficiency • Skill in oral and written communication to present incident analysis, operational procedures, and system documentation • Ability to interact and deal effectively with individuals and committees with diverse non-technical backgrounds • Skill in estimating the time it takes to implement system changes of varying size and complexity • HP Tandem NonStop command interpreter experience or knowledge • Must communicate with field personnel and design group to ensure accuracy of system designs • Assists field personnel with design and implementation issues • Must be able to work well in a team environment
PREFERRED: • Template toolkit experience. • Background in Train Control and Monitoring; Railroad Signaling; Automation, Database, and software design and development • Field knowledge of C&S construction and maintenance • Experience using Bentley MicroStation Applications • PMP or PE Certification
