Osaka University was founded in 1931 as the sixth imperial university. Because the School of Engineering Science was established with mixed teaching staff from the Schools of Engineering and the School of Science, it has a special feature in the educational and research activities: providing all the students with scientific approaches for solving practical engineering problems, and carrying out research in the multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary areas. This school created new research areas and eventually established the departments of information technology and bioengineering.

Job Description
Special Research Fellow for the Research of “Mathematical Medicine Develops Tumor Growth Explications and Medical Technology Innovations” (Head Researcher: Dr. Takashi Suzuki, Osaka University), a part of the “Alliance for Breakthrough between Mathematics and Sciences (ABMS)” (Research Supervisor: Dr. Yasumasa Nishiura, Hokkaido University), in the CREST (Core Research for Evolutional Science and Technology) funded by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).

2. Location: Division of Mathematical Science, Department of Systems Innovation, Graduate School of Engineering Science, Osaka University, 1-3 Machikaneyamacho, Toyonaka, Osaka 560-8531, JAPAN

3. Contract: 30-40 hours per week. Contracts are of 12 month duration and are annually renewable. Contracts can be extended for 5 years.

4. Job Content: Clarify the mechanism of morbid cancer?growth through mathematical models, in particular, in cooperation with researchers from the field of molecular cell biology, top-down modeling, simulation and mathematical analysis of the early stages of invasion.

- Candidate should have research experience in mathematical modeling or nonlinear mathematical analysis. Candidate is expected to be proficient in computer programming. - Candidate should be highly motivated and interested in mathematical medicine research.
