Posting Number: FY10131280 Division: COO - Chief Operating Officer Position Department: Administrative Computing Title of Person to which Position Reports: Description of Duties: Provide technical expertise to the Administrative Computing Department and support campus-wide web application development projects. - Perform full development life cycle tasks including analysis, coding, system testing, documentation, and implementation of complex Web applications. - Contribute to Java migration strategy by developing standards; provide training for teammates, creating common libraries. - Participate in exploration of SOA and Web Services initiatives. - Buttress ongoing software integration efforts and provide improved collaboration environments for faculty, students and staff. - Undertake special projects, as requested. Position Qualifications: Required/desired skills and attributes include: - Sophisticated, dynamic web application development and support using Java, J2EE, Struts, Spring, Hibernate. This includes the ability to design and build applications that integrate with databases from the ground up; familiarity with Java, JSP, CSS, XML, XSL and XSLT desirable. - Solid database experience with Oracle including stored procedures, triggers, etc. - Technical and architectural leadership in the creation and maintenance of a secure, scaleable, and robust web environment. - Ability to support web servers, and install and configure third party products (e.g., Java, J2EE, Apache Tomcat, JBoss, SSL certificates) in cooperation with other IT staff. - Strong project management skills - Accomplished problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills. - Excellent command of written and oral English to promote strong communication with technical and user audiences. - Active interest in continuous professional development and skill enhancement, and in mentoring colleagues. - Capacity to work independently, to manage own time, to make accurate estimates and meet project deadlines. - A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. - Progressive experience in web development with demonstrable achievements, preferably in a college or university environment.
